Joseph is a great example to learn from when it comes to forgiveness. His brothers hated him, contemplated his murder, and resorted to staging his death and selling him, which lead to his slavery in Egypt. Even still, Joseph learned how to forgive them.
Here are four things that God revealed to me to help with forgiveness. It isn't always easy, but it is absolutely necessary in order to be obedient to God and thrive in the calling God has for you.
1. Forget the Pain
2. Focus on the Blessings
Finally, brethren, whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy—meditate on these things.
A woman, when she is in labor, has sorrow because her hour has come; but as soon as she has given birth to the child, she no longer remembers the anguish, for joy that a human being has been born into the world.
3. Free the Person of Consequences
Joseph said to them, “Do not be afraid, for am I in the place of God? But as for you, you meant evil against me; but God meant it for good, in order to bring it about as it is this day, to save many people alive. Now therefore, do not be afraid; I will provide for you and your little ones.” And he comforted them and spoke kindly to them.
But I say to you, love your enemies, bless those who curse you, do good to those who hate you, and pray for those who spitefully use you and persecute you
4. Find Composure
