I didn't realize how many processed foods we ate until all this. Cooking from scratch will need to become more of a norm around here, so get ready. I may be posting some new recipes a long the way.
This recipe made its debut at our house last night. The hubby said they should be called "Awesome Joes," so there you have it. This recipe is so easy, it's not even funny. If I had known it would be this easy to cook, I'd never have bought the canned stuff. This homemade version tastes so much yummier. I don't even know if the store bought versions have soy, but it doesn't really matter now. This recipe is here to stay.
I'm sorry I don't have a pretty picture of the final product on a bun. We were too eager to eat, once it was on the table, that I completely forgot to take another picture. Enjoy!
2 lbs. ground beef, cooked and drained
1/2 onion, finely chopped
1 bell pepper, finely chopped
2 t. minced garlic
1 T. mustard
1 1/2 c. ketchup
Combine all ingredients in a large skillet and heat. Simmer for several minutes (I just let mine simmer while cooking our sides). Serve on hamburger buns.
