Allow me to catch you up a bit. Last year, while I took a break from blogging, I was blessed to be able to teach in three different settings. First, I taught a beginning music theory class over several weeks in the spring. Second, in late summer, I taught three sessions for our church's ladies' retreat entitled "Follow Me," based on Luke 9:43-62. Third, and most dear to my heart, I had the opportunity to teach a Wife-Mother-Homemaker small group class on Wednesday nights from September to December. God sure has taught me a lot, and I'm sure I learned much more than the participants in those settings. I am humbled as I look back over last year because a holy God chose to use me.
Last year also held its challenges. As I was teaching the Wife-Mother-Homemaker class, I was also experiencing a very trying time with my health. I had daily headaches that left me bed-ridden many days. By the grace of God, I made it through those months. By the end of November, it was determined that I had been experiencing a spontaneous spinal fluid leak and was scheduled for an epidural blood patch to correct the problem. Although the headache relief was not immediate, by the end of three weeks, I could tell a definite difference. Hopefully all that is behind me now. It's interesting that the headaches occurred the same time that I was teaching that class. It was a trial for sure, but I knew I was being obedient to God. That is all that matters.
So, here we are in 2018, and January is almost over! It is time to start blogging again. I have prayed much over this website, and I believe that God is leading me to blog. Believe me, I wouldn't do this if I didn't think God was in it. There will be some changes around here.
What kinds of changes? First, you may have already noticed that the logo and motto have changed slightly. It's not a major deal, but I wanted a bit more feminine feel to the site, so flowers and softer fonts are being used. Also, the motto has changed from "Godly Encouragement for Women" to "Biblical. Practical." Second, I am enlisting my husband, Jeremy. He will be proofing every post here and helping with the design. Third, I anticipate posting 1-2 times each month. And fourth, I hope to offer some free printables that will be helpful to you. These are some of the changes that you, the reader, can expect.
My Personal Goals
On more of a personal note, I have set some goals for this year. First, I will be working on blogging on Sunday afternoons. This dedicated time will help me be more of a blessing to you. Not only will I focus on blog content, but I have set some goals for learning more web design and creating printables with a nicer look. Second, I am learning Spanish. This is a huge undertaking, but I am determined to learn it this year. Being able to speak Spanish will be most helpful in local mission work geared to the Hispanic community.
Your Personal Goals?
As we close this first month of the year, how are you doing on goals that you have set for 2018? I would like to pray for you. Shoot me a message, and I'll be glad to add you to my prayer list. Also, I always appreciate prayers lifted on my behalf. I am nothing apart from the grace of God!
Speaking of prayer, next month I will be sharing about praying for our husbands. Our marriages need to be bathed in prayer daily. It is my desire that we do our part as wives to help build our relationships with our husbands. Prayer is definitely vital to that, and it always helps to know you have a community of believers coming along side you.
May God bless your 2018!
